Unbeaten Vulcans get by ECU in 4 sets
The Hawaii Hilo women’s volleyball team remained undefeated Saturday, beating East Central (Okla.) in four sets at the UHH gym.
Callie Aberle had 15 kills and Kyndra Trevino-Scott added 10 kills and seven blocks as the Vulcans (4-0) rallied to win 23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-23. Despite hitting just .145 for the match, UHH picked up nine aces and outblocked the Tigers 10-7. ECU dropped to 0-2.

Kapiolani Rapoza led the Silverswords with 11 kills. Chico State improved to 1-1.
HPU tops Chaminade in season opener
Felipe Silva scored two goals and Alejandro Porras provided a pair of assists to lead the Hawaii Pacific men’s soccer team to a 4-2 victory over Chaminade in the teams’ season opener on Friday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.
After the Silverswords’ Colton Gallt tied the game at 1 with a goal in the 60th minute, the Sea Warriors responded quickly. Daniel Haehre scored in the 63rd minute before teammate Brais Garcia added a goal less than two minutes later to give HPU the lead for good.
The Sea Warriors outshot Chaminade 24-5.
