Kauai police reopen Kokee Road following jet fuel cleanup
Kauai police reopened Kokee Road about 11 a.m. today, after it was closed Tuesday evening when a tanker truck carrying jet fuel flipped onto its side on Kokee Road near Kekaha Road junction, spilling an unconfirmed amount of jet fuel.
Traffic had been diverted onto Waimea Canyon Drive.
The Kauai fire department hazardous materials team responded to the scene and placed absorbent materials to assist in the cleanup and help to suppress fumes.
Bradley Pacific, the company that owns the tanker, was working with the Department of Health to manage the cleanup effort.
