Police find girl, 2, safe at Kaena Point after mom reports her missing

Honolulu police have located a 2-year-old girl whose mother reported her missing early this morning.

Officers using the HPD helicopter spotted the mother’s vehicle near Kaena Point. The girl was in the vehicle and “fine,” police said at about 7 a.m.

Police had also been searching for the vehicle, a 2011 gray Subaru Forester, but say it had not been stolen.

According to the initial Crimestoppers alert issued before dawn, police were called to Farrington Highway near Dillingham Air Field on a report of a distraught female at 12:30 a.m. The woman told police that her daughter was missing. Police confirmed that she had custody of the child for the weekend.
