Coast Guard seeks owner of kayak found off Kihei, Maui

Coast Guardsmen at Station Maui are trying to locate the owner of a blue kayak found floating near Menehune Shores in Kihei at 1:15 p.m. Saturday. No one has been reported to be in distress.

The kayak contained a milk crate, a computer bag with old food, a bicycle helmet, and a plastic fishing float. An urgent marine information broadcast was issued to see if any mariners in the area can identify the kayak.The Coast Guard is requesting anyone with information regarding the kayak contact the Sector Honolulu command center at 808-842-2600.

The Coast Guard is looking for the owner of a blue kayak found floating near Menehune Shores in Kihei, Maui.

The kayak, which was found around 1:15 p.m. Saturday, contained a milk crate, a computer bag with old food, a bicycle helmet and a plastic fishing float.

No one was reported to be in distress. However, the Coast Guard issues an urgent marine information broadcast in an attempt to locate the owner.

Anyone with information about the kayak is asked to contact the Honolulu command center at 842-2600.
