Town & Country magazine lists its top 50 bachelors, a survey of what it calls the most eligible men in the world, in its February issue. Prince Harry is the cover boy. Scott Eastwood, 26, made the list. He is described as one of two children Clint Eastwood did not acknowledge until they were teens. What really got my interest was the magazine calling him an "uber-chiseled Hawaiian" who likes surfing and grew up under the name Scott Reeves with his flight attendant mom, Jacelyn Reeves. He became an actor and model before taking the Eastwood name. He has appeared in Clint’s movies. Keanu Reeves is a member of a local family but I could not find any mention of Scott being related to Keanu and the part-Hawaiian Reeves family …
MARS TRIP: Hawaii’s Bruno Mars, 27, on his way to becoming a superstar, is InStyle magazine’s "Man of Style" for February and is given multipage, photo-story treatment. Among the interesting things he revealed was that he loves a good aloha shirt, although he gets "clowned on" for wearing them, obviously nowadays on the mainland. "Growing up in Hawaii influenced everything about me," he’s quoted as saying. There’s a photo of him in a tux from 2002 with a huge afro, and the Roosevelt High grad said: "I had that ‘fro from junior year on. Back then I was really into ’70s shirts from the Goodwill with big collars, but we had to wear tuxes for our senior high school pictures." There is a picture of him in a gold outfit, made by his mom, Bernadette Hernandez, when he was 4 and performing as Little Elvis with the Love Notes, his dad Peter Hernandez‘s group. I remember him performing in those days. Little Elvis was hot. Bruno Mars is sizzling …
ANOTHER SHIRT TALE: I bumped into Tori Richard Ala Moana employee Joanne Coyne and her husband, Tom, at Ward Theatres recently. She asked if I had seen "Jack Reacher," starring Tom Cruise. I had. Joanne proudly said the aloha shirt Cruise wore in the picture was made by Tori Richard …
GLAD THAT the Pro Bowl gridders played harder this year and am hopeful NFL Commish Roger Goodell will bring it back here for many more years. It’s a money-maker for Hawaii, a great tourism ad to pull in visitors from the mainland, especially those freezing in cold weather … Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, which was official host of the Pro Bowl MVP trophy for several days leading up to the game, also hosted the Pro Bowl VIP Party Jan. 26 that doubled as the official launch party for the NFL Network in Hawaii.About 400 guests, including former Pro Bowlers Jesse Sapolu of UH and Farrington High, Marcus Allen and Eric Dickerson sampled Wolfgang’s fare, enjoyed music by a DJ, and were visited during the night by Pro Bowl cheerleaders and mascots.Train lead singer Patrick Monahan also hung out at the party with his family for about an hour … Now that the Pro Bowl is pau, GO NINERS! …
