Seasiders fall to No. 6 in poll
A loss on the court meant a loss of two spots in the national poll for the Brigham Young-Hawaii volleyball team.
The Seasiders (8-1, 3-1 PacWest) dropped from fourth to sixth in the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25. BYUH lost to Hawaii Pacific in five sets Thursday, snapping the Seasiders’ 33-match conference win streak that dated back to a Sept. 14, 2011, loss to the Sea Warriors that opened conference play for BYUH.
The Seasiders went on to finish PacWest play 15-1 in 2011 and were 16-0 last season.
The top two teams traded places in Monday’s rankings. Concordia-St. Paul (13-1) was at No. 1 and Minnesota Duluth No. 2.
Kapis nears career-best mark
Daryl Kapis is one victory away from notching his best start in eight years as head coach of the Hawaii Pacific volleyball team.
The Sea Warriors are off to a 10-2 start overall, with Saturday’s four-set win over host Hawaii Hilo. A victory over host Holy Names on Wednesday would break Kapis’ personal-best mark set in 2010.
