A pedestrian was killed late Saturday and another critically injured when they were hit by a car in Wahiawa.
The pair, a man and woman, had been arguing on the grass median and ran into the road, police said.
The male, 31, from Wahiawa, was taken to Wahiawa General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials reported. Hawaii News Now identified him as Nickson Manas.
The woman, 28, also of Wahiawa, was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition.
Police closed Wilikina Drive near the H-2 onramp to investigate.
Police said the accident occurred at 11:23 p.m. Saturday when a 34-year old man driving a 2006 grey Nissan hit the two pedestrians.
The 34-year-old driver, of Honolulu, was not injured, and police said speed, drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.

Forest reserve fire flares anew
Firefighters from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources continued to battle a brush fire Sunday that spread to the lower slopes of the Waianae Kai Forest Reserve.
DLNR personnel concentrated their efforts on ground control, addressing one flare-up and trying to prevent the fire from reaching the top of the ridge, where it might endanger plants and native tree snails.
It is believed to be the same fire, on a different front, that federal and county firefighters fought last week that came over a ridge into Waianae Valley.
The fire, which blackened some 400 acres of the forest reserve, was 90 percent contained as of Sunday night, the state said.
Division of Forestry and Wildlife officials have warned the public not to enter the reserve area due to continued risk of the fire spreading.
