When The Brothers Cazimero star in "ATribute toQueen Lili‘uokalani" at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at Hawaii Theatre, the event will celebrate the queen’s birthday with mele, hula and oli from her repertoire. But because Sept. 6 coincidentally is Roland Cazimero‘s birthday, brother Robert has agreed to allow him to develop half the script, so expect some tuneful treats from Roland’s song bag.
Since The Caz no longer do a weekly appearance (their last gig was at the now-defunct Chai’s Island Bistro), this concert will serve as a fix for fans.
The gents from Halau Na Kamalei O Lililehua and the ladies of the Royal Dance Company will be aboard. But there will be a noticeable absentee: Hula soloist Leina‘ala Kalama Heine is saving her energy for The Caz’s December Christmas concerts.

ROCK LEGEND: Sid Bernstein, best known for bringing The Beatles to New York’s Shea Stadium, died of natural causes Wednesday at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. He was 95.
He was the first to stage a rock concert in a stadium accustomed to baseball and football; he raised the bar for concert venues by bringing rock to Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden, too.
But Bernstein also had huge Hawaii ties, frequently visiting and always staying at the then-Kahala Hilton, where the Bernstein burger with cheese and fried onions was notable, according to pal Tom Moffatt. He also took a fab liking to Leonard’s Bakery’s malasadas.
I remember his coup for local singer-composer Warren Marley, his client, when Bernstein bought a full-page ad in the dailies — a rarity — to launch Marley’s lounge gig at the Hawaiian Village.
For a time, Bernstein managed The Young Rascals (later The Rascals) and brought his magic and theirs to the Blaisdell Arena, where screeching fans were common. A mutual-admiration society, really, since The Rascals wrote and recorded "My Hawaii" as an homage to the islands.
Bernstein always thought outside the box, making the impossible possible. He is survived by wife Geraldine (Geri) and six children. …
