Fire crews aid injured hiker near Hana
Fire personnel rescued an injured hiker Friday afternoon on the Waimoku Falls trail in Oheo Gulch, also known as Seven Sacred Pools, in Hana.
A fire official said the 40-year-old man, who was hiking alone, suffered an ankle injury at 6:10 p.m. Friday a mile up the trail.
An engine company hiked three-fourths of a mile into the trail before meeting the injured man.
Bystanders rigged a stretcher and used it to carry the man.
He was brought down the trail to waiting medics.
He refused transport by medics and sought treatment on his own.
