Tote gifts, groceries in tasty style

Tanioka’s Seafoods and Catering’s totes let you be local-kine stylish whether you are shopping for groceries, transporting potluck items or giving a food gift. The store carries bags of various sizes and designs, lined with foil to keep cold dishes cold and hot dishes hot. Among the cutest designs are those by the store’s marketing director, Casey Fuji­moto, of a fish and some jolly musubi ($3.75 for small tote, $3.95 large). Fill them with Tani­oka’s wide variety of packaged snacks for a winning thank-you gift. Special tee is a shout-out to Manti

Locally owned būtigroove scores again with another ripped-from-the-headlines T-shirt. This time it’s Heisman runner-up Manti Te’o who gets props. The Punahou alumnus might play for the Fighting Irish, but he’s the pride of Hawaii, and fans can show their love for "HI’s Man" by wearing a limited-edition T-shirt with his jersey number. Zippy’s serves up pudding pleasure

Back in the ’80s I loved my Jell-O Pudding Pops. Zippy’s Waiau has introduced a contemporary take on the dessert with its Pudding Bombe ($1.95). The frozen treat combines chocolate pudding, vanilla ice cream, fudge and Napoleon’s Bakery’s Melting Moments Cookies. There is also a version that incorporates cheesecake.
