UH women’s hoops team wins third straight
Kamilah Martin scored a season-high 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Hawaii women’s basketball team to its third straight victory, a 65-57 decision over Long Beach State today at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The Rainbow Wahine (7-8 overall, 3-1 Big West Conference) shot 47.1 percent behind the junior forward Martin’s 11-for-18 outing. LBSU (9-7, 2-2) was held to 31.4 percent shooting, including a dreadful 1-for-24 (4.2 percent) on 3-pointers.
UH earned its first three-game winning streak under Laura Beeman and matched the 3-1 league start earned last year in UH’s final campaign in the Western Athletic Conference. The Wahine moved into a second-place tie with Cal Poly behind league leader Cal State Northridge (4-0).
Redshirt freshman Ashleigh Karaitiana added 11 points in the victory.
The Wahine next play at Pacific on Thursday.
