Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall and Saloon, located at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, closed earlier this month. The casino will undergo a $180 million renovation and transformation into a "boutique resort," featuring a rooftop pool and a new night-life attraction overlooking the Strip. The project will also include remodeling the casino and the resort’s 198 hotel rooms. The property is due to remain shuttered until sometime in 2014, when it will re-emerge with its new look and a new name.
» Drai’s down: As part of the Bill’s closing, Drai’s After Hours nightclub has also closed after 16 years of operation. The club is expected to reopen when work is complete on the casino, and there are rumors that it might surface in a temporary venue in another Caesars Entertainment property in the interim.
» Dinner in the Sky: A new "restaurant" is opening this spring that will allow patrons to eat dinner at a table elevated above Las Vegas. Dinner in the Sky will hoist tables 180 feet in the air, providing diners with panoramic views of Las Vegas as they eat. The $4 million tower that will support the tables, accommodating up to 22 diners, a waiter and a chef, will be located near CityCenter. The price of the meal will be $290 per person.
» Pop-Up chapel back: The Cosmopolitan revived its Strip-side "Pop-Up Wedding Chapel" just in time for Valentine’s Day. It replaces the EA Sports Bar that opened last spring.
Question: Where’s the best blackjack game in Las Vegas?
Answer: South of the Strip and just off Interstate 15, there’s a small TA truck stop with a casino called the Alamo. It has two single-deck tables with rules that give the casino a minute
.14 percent advantage against basic strategy, which is the optimal playing strategy considering the cards that are seen on a single deal. That translates into an expectation of losing just 14 cents for every $100 you wager. Not bad!
