2 arrested after fight on Big Isle
A 43-year-old Hawaii island man and his 24-year-old son were arrested after a fight Monday night.
When officers responded to the report of the fight at a Mountain View house at 8:30 p.m. Monday, the son ran into the nearby forest and came out at 11 p.m. with substantial bodily injuries.
He was taken to the Hilo Medical Center, where he was treated and released. But police arrested him on two unrelated bench warrants for contempt of court.
While police were securing the scene at 7:09 a.m. Tuesday at the house, the father came out allegedly pointing what appeared to be a rifle at responding officers.
Police recovered an air rifle, and arrested the father on suspicion of second-degree assault in the domestic incident and first-degree terroristic threatening for allegedly pointing the rifle at police.
