NOT EVERY Army doctor has three bands playing at his promotion-to-colonel party, but Tripler’s Eric Crawley did, thanks to his wife, "Skinny" Lynnie Crawley. Skinny plays bass and has two bands. One played at the bash last Saturday night at the Crawleys’ sprawling Kailua home.
About 120 guests were first treated to the sound of music by bassist Bob Hernandez‘s Project Monday. Others in the versatile group are guitarist-singer David Yamasaki, hot sax player Ambrose Splescia, pianist Joshua Kaye, drummer Michael Sommer and percussionist Bobo Butires. The Crawleys’ precocious 4-year-old daughter, Skyler, picked up one of Bobo’s shakers and shook it to the beat of a Latin number. Another hit was Dr. Irina Crook, who put on a "Dancing with the Stars"-style performance. Bob "Frosty" Frost of Kailua Music School sang. Skinny and her Twenty Years Too Late band followed with her husband and Lance Cordoni on guitars, vocalist Philip Strauss and Matt Cole filling in for Andy Watson on drums.
The trio composed of bassist Ian Chames, singer-guitarist Doug Stillwell and drummer Matt wound things up. Col. Crawley returned from Afghanistan earlier this year. His parents, Joe and Carolyn Crawley, flew in from Homosassa, Fla., for the party. Bassist Ian made a splash after the party by doing a 1-1⁄2 somersault dive into the swimming pool from the roof. Madison, 15, another Crawley daughter, also likes it up on the roof. She was perched up there greeting guests as they arrived …
