Maui firefighters rescued a 62-year-old man today after he fell about 15 feet off a trail and broke his leg in Hana.

The man, who was visiting Hawaii, was staying alone in Kaanapali when he fell off the Red Sand Beach Trail about 4:45 p.m., a Maui Fire Department spokesman said. The man sustained a two-inch cut on his forehead and a broken thigh bone.

Firefighters carried the man out of the trail and took him to a landing zone at Hana Ballpark.

A medical helicopter flew him to Maui Memorial Medical Center.
