Lions collecting used glasses at Walmart
The Lions of District 50 will hold their annual "Lions in Sight" used eyeglasses collection from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Walmart stores statewide.
Last year the organization collected more than 10,000 used eyeglasses that were distributed during missions to the Philippines and Afghanistan, and to a recycling center in Vallejo, Calif., which sends the cleaned and refurbished glasses to Mexico. Used eyeglasses cannot be distributed in the United States but can help thousands in underdeveloped countries, according to a news release.
