Lentils with cassava fries and sweet potato and watercress soup are part of the lineup at a gourmet vegan, gluten-free dinner at Church of the Crossroads on June 13.
The 6 p.m. meal will also feature brown rice with corn, broccoli and arame salad on lettuce leaf with parsley and ume dressing, and a two-colored mousse with coconut cream topping.
To-go meals will also be available for pickup at the church, at 1212 University Ave.

Turn fresh fruits into jams and jellies
Learn the basics of making jams and jellies with fruits fresh from the yard at an introductory class to preserving on June 16.
Students are encouraged to bring their own fruits, including oranges, mangoes and lilikoi, to the class, which runs 9 a.m. to noon at the Ilima at Leihano in Kapolei, 891 Kamaaha St.
Students will also have a chance to personalize their jars with fabric, labels and natural gift wrap.

Pair up whiskey, chocolate for dad
The Wine Stop will introduce pairings of whiskey with chocolate on Father’s Day, 4:30 to 6 p.m. June 17.
Madre Chocolate’s Nat Bletter and David Elliott and the Wine Stop’s Liane Fu will help customers combine the shop’s best whiskeys with such chocolate flavors as Chipotle Allspice, Hamakua Pink Peppercorn and Smoked Salt.
