The roles were reversed on senior night at Les Murakami Stadium on Saturday.
A day after Nevada knocked Hawaii out of a first-round bye in the Western Athletic Conference tournament, the Rainbows may have dealt a similar blow to the Wolf Pack after an 8-3 victory in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Key: The Rainbows score six runs in the third to erase a 2-0 deficit.
Next: UH to play in WAC tournament, starting Wednesday in Mesa, Ariz. |
Kaeo Aliviado doubled and drove in two runs and Pi‘ikea Kitamura added a two-run single in a six-run third inning that resulted in a loud ovation from a second consecutive sellout crowd of 3,452.
Hawaii (30-23, 10-8), which will be the third or fourth seed in the WAC tournament, finished with a winning conference record for the fifth time in the past eight years and reached the 30-win plateau for the sixth time in the past seven years.
"I honestly think with such a young team — losing seven draft picks — and 18 newcomers, to win 30 games this season is quite a milestone for our kids," Hawaii coach Mike Trapasso said.
The loss dropped Nevada (31-23, 11-7) into a first-place tie with Sacramento State and potentially New Mexico State if the Aggies beat San Jose State today.
Should all three teams tie for first, the Wolf Pack would fall to the No. 3 seed due to the tiebreaker, forcing Nevada to open tourney play on Wednesday instead of Thursday.
With their fate sealed by a 3-2 extra-inning loss on Friday, the Rainbows played spoilers by scoring six runs in the third inning.
"I wasn’t counting on eight runs (total) with the way our offense has been," Trapasso said. "You’re not going to win the tournament without production from the bottom third of the lineup, and you saw what happened (tonight) when we were able to get hits out of the 8 and 9 spots."
All nine starters had at least one hit and Max Duval and Garrett Champion each went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
It was more than enough support for starter Jon Flinn (2-1), who pitched a career-best seven innings, allowing just one earned run with six strikeouts.
It was only the third start of the season for Flinn, who began the year as the team’s third starter. That situation lasted only a week after he was rocked for seven runs in his UH debut against Oregon.
"Early in the game I was going with the fastball and getting ahead and then later (on) I went with the changeup because I was getting tired a little bit," said Flinn, who threw 103 pitches. "It was a great confidence booster for me."
After pitching only four times in UH’s first 30 games, Flinn has found success lately. He allowed two runs on four hits in five innings of a win over Grambling State and gave up just three hits and one run in four innings in a loss to UC Davis last Monday.
"I think he solidified himself as a guy who is going to have to go out and pitch the same way next week for us to have a chance in the tournament," Trapasso said. "He’s a guy who can really mix speeds, and when he’s able to throw his changeup for strikes, it’s a dominant changeup."
Senior Riley Welch worked the final two scoreless innings to earn his first career save.
Hawaii strung together five straight hits off of Nevada starter Troy Marks in the third and benefited from two errors by right fielder Brooks Klein.
Aliviado hit a two-run single and Kitamura knocked Marks out of the game with a two-run single to give UH a 4-2 lead.
With runners on second and third and two outs, Breland Almadova lifted a fly ball to right that Klein dropped, allowing Collin Bennett and AJ Bayus to score to put the ‘Bows up 6-2.
Duval doubled for his second hit of the night with two outs in the eighth and Champion drove him in with his second single to put UH ahead 7-3. After a single by Stephen Ventimilia, Champion scored on a wild pitch to put UH up by the final margin.
Marks (1-4) was tagged for the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings. He was one of six Nevada pitchers used in the game.
