Raylad Brown was arrested but not charged in Hilo burglary. He was charged with theft in an unrelated shoplifting case.

A report from the public about a suspicious car led to the arrest of a man and three women during a burglary in progress in Hilo on Monday.

At 2:45 a.m., South Hilo patrol officers responded to the burglary report at a home on the 2000 block of Ainaola Drive and found a man and three women with a pickup truck containing items from the property and the house.

All four were arrested and taken to the Hilo police cellblock.

On Tuesday, Lorilei Brown, 38, was charged with first-degree burglary and third-degree theft. Her bail was set at $51,000.

Her brother, Raylad Brown, 36, and his wife, Jeraldine Brown, 39, also were not charged in the burglary case pending further investigation. But Raylad Brown was charged with shoplifting in an unrelated case. His bail was set at $1,000. Jeraldine Brown was charged with theft and contempt of court in connection with outstanding warrants. Her bail was set at $12,500.

The third woman was released pending further investigation.
