BYUH sweeps Hawaii Hilo in volleyball
The Brigham Young Hawaii women’s volleyball team, ranked fourth in the nation in Division II, remained unbeaten by sweeping Hawaii Hilo 25-20, 25-18, 25-18 in a Pacific West Conference match at Cannon Activities Center.
The Seasiders moved to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Vulcans fell to 5-2 and 0-2.
Hawaii Pacific rolls with volleyball sweep
Pomai Recca and Kasey Thompson each had 11 kills to lead Hawaii Pacific to a 25-23, 25-17, 25-20 victory over Chaminade on Saturday night in a PacWest women’s volleyball match at McCabe Gym.
The Sea Warriors improved to 8-2 and 2-0. The Silverswords, who got a match-high 14 kills from Kim Spring, fell to 3-4 and 0-2.
Kono way back in golf tournament
Hawaii’s Stephanie Kono shot an even-par 72 on Saturday in the second round of the Symetra Tour’s Volvik Classic.
She was tied for 33rd, at 142, going into today’s final round at Kissimmee, Fla.
Vulcans blank Silverswords in soccer
Caroline Stromic scored twice in the second half to lead Hawaii Hilo to a 2-0 win over Chaminade in the PacWest women’s soccer opener for both teams Saturday at the Saint Louis School field.
» Kailee Kartchner scored the lone goal in the 56th minute to lift Brigham Young-Hawaii to a 1-0 win over Hawaii Pacific in a nonconference women’s soccer match Saturday at HPU’s Atherton Field.
» Scott Hill scored two goals to lead the Hawaii Hilo men’s soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Chaminade in the PacWest opener for both teams Saturday at the Saint Louis School field.
» Mike Moreno scored twice within three minutes and Brigham Young-Hawaii went on to a 4-2 win over Hawaii Pacific in a nonconference match at HPU’s Atherton Field.
