CHINATOWN QUEENS CROWNED
1. Pageant sponsor Doug Ho, Miss Hawaii Crystal Lee, center, and pageant consultant Leilani Keough, fourth from left, congratulated the two winners of the Miss Chinatown Hawaii 2014 Scholarship Pageant Aug. 31 at the Hawaii Theatre. Miss Hawaii Chinese Jessalyn Lau, left, will represent Hawaii in the 2014 Miss Chinatown USA Pageant. Miss Chinatown Hawaii Jessica Cheng will compete in the 2014 Miss Hawaii Pageant. Lee, who was crowned Miss Chinatown Hawaii last September and was crowned Miss Hawaii in June, told the audience she delayed her departure for the Miss America Pageant, which starts Tuesday with preliminary judging, so she could complete her reign as Miss Chinatown Hawaii by crowning her successor.

HWAYO SOJU DEBUTS AT PINEAPPLE ROOM

Cho Tae-kwan, CEO of KwangJuGo Group, and KBFD-TV General Manager Jeff Chung, the Star-Advertiser's "K-Drama" columnist, were co-hosts of a press party for Hwayo soju, a high-end version of traditional Korean rice wine, Aug. 29 at Alan Wong's Pineapple Room. Cho shared his vision of globalizing upscale Korean cuisine. Chung spoke of the growing popularity of Korean culture in Hawaii.

CAMPBELL HEADLINES MAYJAH RAYJAH
2. MayJah RayJah headliner Ali Campbell, center, had performed for 90 minutes but kept on playing backstage, walking to his SUV while his band remained on stage, shortly after midnight Sept. 1 at Kakaako Amphitheater.
