It’s a shame Mango Days Sweets Cafe’s hours aren’t synched with next-door neighbor Japanese Restaurant Aki. It would be nice to walk over for a dessert that’s not green tea this or that.
But Mango Days — which brings the popularity of food trucks indoors, with a trailer parked inside its permanent space — holds its own as a pleasant stop for breakfast, lunch or midday reward.
The menu includes waffles, plain ($5.99) or with whipped cream, strawberries, banana slices, blueberries and mango ($12.75); morning plates (8 to 11 a.m.) of eggs with bacon and/or Portuguese sausage with choice of French toast, baguette toast or rice ($6.45 to $6.99); and smoothies ($4.75 to $4.99).
An athlete’s breakfast plate comprises a waffle with salad and granola topping, with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and honey dressing ($6.99).
Mango Days is at 1426 Makaloa St. Call 253-8861. Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.
