Firm that caused freeway traffic jam ordered to stop operations
City officials today ordered a halt to disposal of dredging materials from Hawaii Kai Marina until the contractor can come up with the proper permit.
A notice of violation was issued today against Sandy Silva, owner of SER Silva Equipment Rental, ordering the company to stop work immediately. The citation would impose daily fines of $150 if a grading permit for a Waianae property isn’t secured by Oct. 7.
The dredging project has been halted for a week amid the concerns and to make sure that all necessary permits are in place, Hawaii Kai Marina Community Association President Robert Clark said Thursday.
A major traffic jam was caused Saturday when a SER truck spilled sludge it was hauling westward on the H-1 freeway.
