Hiker is injured in fall on Nuuanu trail
A 31-year-old man was injured after he slipped and fell down the trail near the Jackass Ginger pool, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
Firefighters took the man off the Nuuanu trail after he fell around 10:20 a.m. Saturday. Paramedics transported the hiker to the hospital in serious condition.
Female inmate fails to return from visit
Authorities are looking for a 40-year-old female inmate who failed to return from a visit with a group that was to prepare her for her eventual release.
Jennifer Garcia left Friday morning to meet with her support group and was scheduled to return to the Women’s Community Correctional Center by 9 p.m., according to the state Department of Public Safety.
Department spokeswoman Toni Schwartz said Garcia was in a transitional program called "Bridge" with a halfway house within the women’s prison.
Schwartz said Garcia, convicted of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and second-degree robbery, is considered a low security risk.
She has brown hair and eyes, weighs 150 pounds and is 5 feet 5 inches tall.
2 boys, 1 woman sought in alleged robbery
Police are searching for two teenage boys and a woman after they allegedly robbed a man Friday afternoon in Waikiki, police said.
According to police records, a 39-year-old woman arranged to meet the 51-year-old victim and during the 2:20 p.m. meeting, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy assaulted the man and stole his shoulder bag.
The woman then drove the boys away from the scene, police said.
All three suspects are wanted for second-degree robbery.
Suspect in Kaneohe car break-in captured
Police credit an alert witness with helping catch a 35-year-old man who allegedly broke into a car in Kaneohe.
Police said the witness reported hearing a suspicious man making loud noises near a parked vehicle at about 1:50 a.m. Friday.
A responding officer observed the man rummaging through the trunk of a car, but the man ran away when he noticed the officer, police said.
Police caught the suspect, who has no local address, 15 minutes later near Kahekili Highway and Kahuhipa Street. He was arrested on suspicion of theft and an outstanding warrant.
Man arrested over use of stolen credit card
Police arrested a 23-year-old man who allegedly used a credit card stolen from a vehicle last month.
Officers arrested the suspect on South Beretania Street at about 10 a.m. Friday.
Police said the credit card and other items were reported stolen from a vehicle that had been broken into in East Oahu in August.
Worker accused of stealing from employer
A retail worker turned herself in to police Friday after allegedly stealing from her Kaneohe employer, police said.
The 22-year-old woman stole from the establishment via unauthorized transactions earlier this month, according to police records. She turned herself in Friday around noon and was arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft but later released pending investigation, police said.
