KAILUA-KONA » Mokulele Airlines is gearing up to begin service from the Waimea-Kohala Airport.

West Hawaii Today reports service to Maui and Oahu will begin Saturday from the airport on the Big Island’s west side.

Kailua-Kona-based Mokulele replaces Pacific Wings, which announced in March that it would end service to Waimea.

Flights will leave in the morning and stop in Kahului on Maui before taking off again for Honolulu.
