Hawaii senior All-American hitter Emily Hartong was named the Big West player of the week in women’s volleyball Monday, the fifth weekly honor of her career.
Hartong had 18 kills, seven digs and two blocks in Friday’s upset of No. 1 Texas. She also ended up as the MVP of the Chevron Wahine Rainbow Invitational, following up with 14 kills and seven digs in the sweep of UTEP and 30 kills with 12 digs in the five-set loss to San Diego.
For the three matches, she hit .356, averaging 5.17 kills and 2.17 digs.
She also became the 18th player in program history to reach 1,000 kills, doing so on Friday early in Set 4 against the Longhorns. Her 62 kills in the tournament moved her to No. 17 on UH’s career list with 1,049.
