New tour times have been set for the Doris Duke Estate at Black Point, better known as Shangri La.
Check-in times for the tours are 9 and 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Wednesdays through Saturdays, at the Honolulu Museum of Art. There will also be one Japanese-language tour on the last Friday of every month, with check-in time at noon.
Buses will take visitors to the estate; the tour itself will take about 90 minutes.
Reservations are recommended. Tours are $25 per person, $20 for Hawaii residents. Tickets can be purchased by calling 866-385-3849 (866-DUKE-TIX).
Built in 1937 as the Honolulu home of the late American heiress and philanthropist, Shangri La was inspired by her extensive travels in the Middle East and South Asia and reflects architectural traditions from India, Iran, Morocco and Syria. The estate is run by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art.
