Pahoa man charged in connection with 3 robberies

 

Hawaii County police have charged a Pahoa man in connection with three robberies in which the victims were approached in parking areas.

Kale Thomas Ramangmou, 19, was arrested Monday and charged Tuesday. police said. 

He is charged with a 11 criminal counts — three counts of robbery, two counts each of theft, criminal property damage and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, and one count each of assault and burglary.

Police said Ramangmou was among a group of people who on Jan. 28 punched a 40-year-old Pahoa man as he sat in his parked van in lower Puna, stole his phone and threw a rock through a side window of the van.

Police also said Ramangmou was in a group that on April 29 smashed a window of a car parked across from Ahalanui Hot Ponds in lower Puna. The assailants stole a cell phone holster from a 30-year-old woman from Mill Valley, Calif.

Ramangmou is also charged with assaulting and stealing items from a 43-year-old Pahoa man he gave a ride to from a convenience store in Pahoa on May 1, and also burglarizing the victim’s home.
