Kauai police seek 2 men for sex offender registration noncompliance
Kauai police are asking for the public’s help in finding two men wanted for not complying with sex offender requirements.
Police urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of 40-year-old Jordan K. Valente, of Anahola, or 56-year-old Brian K. Lopes to call Kauai police Lt. Trent Shimabukuro at 241-1638 or Kauai police dispatch at 241-1711.
Lopes was last known to be homeless and living in the Hanamaulu area. Police believe he may have recently fled to Oahu.
The Police Department’s new Fugitive Apprehension and Strike Team has already arrested 23 sex offenders for noncompliance on Kauai over the past five months, Kauai County said in a release.
The operation is part of a special joint investigation by police, the Kauai prosecutor’s office, and the state Attorney General’s Office.
Convicted sex offenders must keep their contact information updated, according to state laws. Failure to do so is a class C felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.
