Hawaii County police warn public of car break-ins

Hawaii County police issued a warning Friday about recent car break-ins in Hilo.

Police said they have received reports of 15 to 20 car break-ins per month in Hilo in recent months. About half of the cases involved vehicles left unlocked, including those parked at the owner’s home, police said.

Police ask people to report suspicious activity and provide information that might help identify possible suspects by calling the police nonemergency line at 935-3311.
