Fatality in golf cart accident is identified
The Japanese visitor who died after a golf cart accident Wednesday has been identified as Yoshitada Kambayashi, 74, of Tokyo, the city medical examiner’s office said.
Kambayashi died of multiple traumatic injuries in the accident at Waialae Country Club, officials said. He suffered from head trauma and other possible internal injuries.
According to Emergency Medical Services transmissions, Kambayashi was driving the cart with a 34-year-old male passenger when the cart fell about 10 feet into a ditch. He was taken in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center where he died.
Student assaulted at park near UH
A University of Hawaii at Manoa student reported she was sexually assaulted at Kanewai Park early Thursday.
The student said she was leaving the park, which is near the UH campus, at 3:30 a.m. when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown male, UH campus security said. When other voices were heard, the man ran away, officials said. The only description of the male is that he was tall.
Anyone who was in the area and may have seen or heard anything related to the assault is asked to call campus security at 956-6911.
3 teens arrested in attempted break-in
Three teenage boys were arrested after allegedly trying to break into a Gulick Street market in Kalihi on Wednesday.
Police said they arrived at the store at about 11:39 p.m. to find the three boys, ages 13 to 15, in a parking lot. One was trying to pry open a louvered window, while a second boy stood by and signaled when he saw police. The two boys as well as a third boy standing nearby were arrested. They face charges of attempted burglary and violating curfew.
Argument, brick-throwing end in arrest
A woman was arrested after throwing a brick through a car window in Kalihi on April 13, police said.
Police said the woman, 21, got into an argument with an acquaintance. When the acquaintance went to sit in her car, the woman picked up a brick and threw it at the vehicle, breaking a window, police said.
She was arrested Wednesday at her Linapuni Street home on suspicion of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and criminal property damage, and released pending investigation.
