Guam official: 60 percent of Marines will rotate
HAGATNA, Guam >> A Guam official says 60 percent the Marines the U.S. plans to move to Guam from Okinawa will rotate through while the rest will be stationed on the island.
The Pacific Daily News reports about 3,000 Marines will rotate while 2,000 will be stationed on Guam.
Mark Calvo, the Guam governor’s military buildup director, says the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade will have its headquarters on Guam.
The U.S. and Japan announced last week 9,000 Marines on Okinawa would move to Guam and other locations. Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie says he expects the military will send up to 2,700 of the Marines to Hawaii.
