Five high school state tournaments will be held this week in three sports.
By Saturday night, three sports teams will be crowned champions in Division I and two will be the new titleholders in Division II.
Mid-Pacific was awarded the Division I top seed in the DataHouse State Softball Championships, which start Wednesday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Campbell is the No. 2 seed, followed by No. 3 Lahainaluna and No. 4 Hilo.
In Division II softball, which gets under way at Central Oahu Regional Park on Wednesday, Waimea is the top seed, followed by second-seeded Nanakuli, third-seeded Kamehameha-Hawaii and fourth-seeded Lanai.
The top-seeded Menehunes are trying for their first state softball title since they won the championship in 1990 — before there were two classifications.
The tourney continues through Saturday’s D-I and D-II title games at RWSS.
The New City Nissan Boys Volleyball Championships start on Wednesday in Division I and Thursday in Division II.
Two Interscholastic League of Honolulu teams — Punahou and Hawaii Baptist — are the top seeds in D-I and D-II.
The other seeded volleyball teams are No. 2 Moanalua, No. 3 Kamehameha-Hawaii and No. 4 King Kekaulike in D-I, and No. 2 Seabury Hall, No. 3 McKinley and No. 4 Hawaii Prep in D-II.
The volleyball championships will be held at four high school gyms, with most of the matches on the final day (Saturday) at Blaisdell Arena.
All of the matches in the Stanford Carr Development, LLC, Girls Water Polo State Championships for Division I will be held at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
Punahou is the top seed, followed by second-seeded Kahuku, third-seeded Kamehameha-Hawaii and fourth-seeded Baldwin.
The water polo championship match is Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
