Kalihi woman allegedly damaged vehicle
A 31-year-old Kalihi woman was arrested Friday after she allegedly hit another vehicle carrying a toddler and continued to push the vehicle into an intersection in the Ala Moana area.
Police said the victims — a 38-year-old woman, a 36-year-old man and a 3-year-old girl — were in the vehicle when it was struck from behind about 5:45 p.m. and then pushed into the intersection.
When the victims pulled into a nearby driveway, the assailant damaged the driver’s-side window of their vehicle with an unidentified object, police said.
Police would not say what may have prompted the incident or if the parties knew each other.
The woman was arrested several minutes later in the 1200 block of Kapiolani Boulevard. She was booked for investigation of first-degree criminal property damage.
30 motorists arrested in DUI crackdown
Police arrested 30 people Friday night and Saturday morning for allegedly driving intoxicated in areas from Leeward to East Oahu.
The arrests happened between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. and included a 35-year-old woman who refused to submit to a breath, blood or urine test after she was pulled over about 2:40 a.m. on Kamokila Boulevard in Kapolei.
Those arrested ranged from 19 to 59 years old. Eleven of them were women; four of them were under 21.
Four were also arrested for allegedly driving after their license had been suspended for a previous offense of drunken driving. The arrests came from various neighborhoods, including Makakilo, Kunia, Pearl City, McCully and Waikiki.
Man in stolen car was driving wrong way
A vehicle stopped by police going the wrong way on a Waikiki street late Thursday turned out to be stolen.
Police said a police officer stopped a car heading in the wrong direction fronting 450 Lewers St. about 9:19 p.m. Thursday.
A check of the vehicle found that it was stolen, police said.
Police arrested a man, 37, who listed an address at nearby Kaiolu Street as his home. He is being held pending a charge of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
Hiker with broken ankle rescued on Kauai
Kauai firefighters rescued a hiker who broke his left ankle Thursday while hiking on the Hanakapiai Trail on Kauai.
At about 6 p.m., the hiker, a visitor from Texas, injured his ankle after he fell.
Fire rescue aboard the Air 1 helicopter located the man near Hanakapiai Falls and airlifted him to Princeville Airport. Paramedics then transported him to Wilcox Hospital for treatment.
