The Fifth Annual Grow Hawaiian Festival on Saturday, presented by Hawaiian Electric Co., highlights Hawaii’s cultural heritage, native plants and sustainable practices.
People can learn how to prepare poi, tie net carriers and fishnets and learn other traditional Hawaiian crafts from local artisans.
A market will feature vendors showcasing local products, including Hawaiian coffee and native plants. The Oahu Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions about selecting and growing plants.
Best of all, the event is free for kamaaina and military families with ID.
Here are several Hawaiian-style recipes to get you ready for the festival.
