Jewelry designer brings trunk show to art museum

Honolulu jewelry designer Fay Scherr will hold a trunk show from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 28 at the Honolulu Museum of Art Shop.

Customers are invited to bring their own treasured bead or heirloom jewelry element for Scherr to incorporate into a new, contemporary creation. Custom designs will be ready for pickup May 8, just in time for Mother’s Day. To ensure customers who bring in an heirloom receive individual time with Scherr, reservations are required; call 532-8703.

One-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets and earrings also will be available for purchase.

Scherr is known for combining a variety of beads into bold, versatile pieces that are often asymmetrical. The Hawaii-born designer received a bachelor’s degree in fashion design and merchandising from the University of Hawaii and began collecting beads on her many trips abroad. She was one of the original “Two Bag Ladies,” creating unique purses from boxes.

Fashion and art event commemorates Earth Day

The HAEHU Group will present “Save the Planet,” a benefit fashion event and art wellness fair in celebration of Earth Day.

The event will take place 1 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Indigo, 1121 Nuuanu Ave., and feature an afternoon of music, art exhibitions, creative dance, and fashion by Siam Imports.

Pick up Reyn Spooner wear for cheap at annual sale

Reyn Spooner is hosting its annual Ultimate Factory Sale from Sunday through April 28, with shirts, swim trunks and shorts for as low as $20.

In addition, customers can help support the Hawaii Foodbank by bringing in three canned goods in exchange for a free gift with purchase, while supplies last.

Ladies’ dresses and blouses and kids’ wear also will be on sale.

The sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and April 28, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through April 27 at 801 Dillingham Blvd., next to Costco.
