Group to give away 1,000 trees in Manoa
Malama o Manoa, a community group, is hosting a "1,000 Tree Giveaway" between 8 a.m. and noon April 29 at Manoa Valley District Park Pavilion.
The 1,000 trees — including kukui, mountain apple, Surinam cherry, plumeria, sea grape, hau, monkey pod, papaya and avocado and more — will be handed out for free.
It is the fifth year the group is hosting a tree giveaway in hopes of creating more green and shade to the island and improving air quality.
Malama o Manoa will also be giving away monstera, spider lilies, taro, aloe, ferns, dracaena and grape ivy.
Arborists will be on hand to answer questions and give advice on the care of the trees. Boy Scouts from Troop One will assist with loading the trees into vehicles.
