Hawaii County police want to question man about Puna shooting
Hawaii County police are asking for help in finding a 22-year-old man wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting in Puna last year that injured a 36-year-old Puna man.
Detectives have identified Misinale Kalavi Jr. of the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision as a person of interest. He is described as 6-foot-1, 280 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Kalavi is known to frequent the Puna and Kona areas.
A male reportedly shot at a 36-year-old Keaau man, who sustained a head wound, while driving on Route 130 in Ainaloa, police said. The man was an occupant of a teal-colored sedan with several other males when the shooting occurred Oct. 22.
The victim was taken to the Hilo Medical Center where he was treated for his injury and released, police said.
