Kitamura’s double wins it for Hawaii in 10 innings
Pi’ikea Kitamura hit a two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Hawaii a 3-2 win over Fresno State on Saturday at Les Murakami Stadium.
Stephen Ventimilia drew a walk and Kaeo Aliviado singled to set the stage for Kitamura, who hit an 0-1 pitch into the gap in right-center to win it.
Scott Squier started for Hawaii and allowed one run on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings with two walks and five strikeouts.
Brent Harrison (2-1) got the win after allowing a two-out RBI double to Austin Wynns in the top of the 10th to score Daniel Moultrie.
Hawaii (19-13, 2-1 Western Athletic Conference) won a series against Fresno State (15-16, 1-2) for the first time since 2007.
Hawaii returns to action Friday for the opener of a four-game nonconference series against Saint Mary’s (Calif.).
