Park Service taking comments on Ford Island bungalow assessment

The National Park Service has published an environmental assessment to evaluate future management of World War II-era bungalows on Ford Island.

The document identifies differing approaches to preserving the historic structures adjacent to the Battleship Missouri and USS Oklahoma Memorial known as the Chief Petty Officer Bungalows. The bungalows housed families at the onset of the Pacific War.

Park Service Superintendent in Pearl Harbor Paul DePrey says historic structures are tangible reminders of the nation’s legacy.

Comments on the document will be accepted through May 4.
