Kalihi man, 26, arrested in Waikiki robbery
Police arrested a Kalihi man, 26, suspected of robbing another man in Waikiki around daybreak Thursday.
The victim, age not given, reported that he was confronted at Kalakaua Avenue and Lewers Street about 5 a.m. by a man who bumped his chest and demanded his cellular phone and his money, police said. The robber pinned the victim against a wall and took his cash and cell phone from his pants pocket before fleeing on foot, police said.
An on-duty police lieutenant driving on Kuhio Avenue spotted a man matching the suspect’s description a short time later and captured him. The victim identified the suspect, who was arrested on a charge of second-degree robbery and two warrant counts.
