State gymnastics this weekend
The Hawaii State Women’s and Men’s Junior Olympic gymnastics championships will be held Saturday and Sunday at Aiea District Park Gym.
About 100 male and female gymnasts from across the state will compete to qualify for mainland regionals in April. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children. Competition in various levels begins at 10 a.m. each day.
The level 10 session, featuring advanced, college-bound female gymnasts, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday. Joshua Yee, a VISA Cup medalist and college-bound male athlete, will compete Sunday at 10 a.m.
Easter roller derby event
Punk Bunnies take on Bad Eggs in Pacific Roller Derby’s Easter-themed fundraiser scrimmage on April 7 at the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station at Barbers Point. Proceeds benefit the league’s all-star travel team that will compete in next month’s Dust Devil Tournament in Arizona. Doors open at 3 p.m., with competition at 4 p.m. Admission is $7, $5 for students, military or with a clothing donation. Non-military spectators must register at pacificrollerderby.com by midnight April 6 to gain access to the air station.
