Man allegedly bites police officer

A Honolulu police officer, trying to separate a fighting couple, was bitten on the face Wednesday afternoon in Kalihi, police said.

The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. in the 600 block of North King Street. Police said the officer was trying to separate a 32-year-old Kalihi man and his girlfriend, who were arguing, when the man grabbed the officer’s arm and bit the officer on the face.

Both the police officer and suspect were taken to the hospital, where they received treatment.

Police arrested the suspect for assault of a law enforcement officer.
