Ricketts named WAC pitcher of the week
University of Hawaii senior Stephanie Ricketts’ fifth career no-hitter helped her earn a second consecutive Western Athletic Conference softball Pitcher of the Week award on Monday.
Ricketts didn’t give up an earned run in two wins over San Jose State last weekend. She struck out 11 in 13 innings and threw a no-hitter in the series finale on Saturday. She improved to 16-2 this season with a 0.88 ERA.
The WAC honor was Ricketts’ fourth of the season and 11th of her career. The Rainbow Wahine (26-3, 2-1 WAC) open an eight-game road trip this Friday at New Mexico State.
UH men’s basketball banquet set April 25
The Hawaii men’s basketball team will have its annual awards banquet on April 25 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Tapa Ballroom. No-host cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner and the evening program to begin at 6:30.
UH went 16-16 in Gib Arnold’s second season as coach.
Tickets are $100 each. Order forms should be returned to the UH basketball office by April 18.

Rainbow Wahine golf team behind on Maui
The Hawaii women’s golf team trails leader Colorado by 51 strokes after the first two rounds of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic held on Monday at The Bay Course at Kapalua, Maui.
UH shot a 320-319—639 and is in 12th place of 14 teams. Hawaii-Hilo is last with a 694. The tournament finishes today.
