Man, 30, fails to return to furlough center
Police arrested a 30-year-old man who failed to return to the Laumaka Work Furlough Center on Wednesday after being allowed out on a job-seeking pass.
Jesse Fruin was allowed to leave the Kalihi facility but failed to return at 5:30 p.m.
Police said he was found at about 1:50 p.m. Thursday and arrested for investigation of second-degree escape.
3 teens arrested after device explodes
Three boys were arrested Friday after exploding a homemade device on the campus of Highlands Intermediate School in Pearl City, police said.
The boys, ages 13 to 14, made the device and blew it up in a storm drain on the campus on Hoolaulea Street at about 7:10 a.m., police said. The three boys were arrested after school officials found them and called police. No one was hurt and no damage was reported.
