Cal Baptist sweeps UHH in baseball
Two Cal Baptist pitchers — starter and winner Erik Wallace and reliever Cody Wetherbee — limited Hawaii-Hilo to five hits in a 4-2 win to finish off a baseball doubleheader sweep at Wong Stadium on Tuesday.
Matt Johnson stroked two hits and added two RBIs to lead the Lancers (19-4, 16-2 Pacific West Conference) to a 5-4 win in the first game.
Steven Riddle had two hits to lead the Vulcans (4-15, 1-9) in the second game.
Hawaii Pacific splits with La Verne
Breanne Patton pitched a four-hitter to lead Hawaii Pacific to a 9-1 win over La Verne (Calif.) in the first game of a softball doubleheader Tuesday at Okita Field.
The Leopards came back to win the second game 6-1 and improve to 11-7.
The Sea Warriors are 11-5.
Kim in fourth in Thompson golf
Gonzaga’s Alice Kim, a University High graduate, is in fourth place after two rounds of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational golf tournament at the Kaneohe Klipper Course.
Kim is at 3-over 147 after shooting 72 and 75 on Tuesday. She trails leader Brittany Henderson of Coastal Carolina by three shots going into today’s final round.
The University of Hawaii is tied for sixth place with Idaho at 41-over 617, 15 shots behind Gonzaga, the leader after two rounds.
Erika Lundberg of Hawaii is tied for 10th place among individuals at 8-over 152.
