Arakawa goes the distance in Hawaii win
Jarrett Arakawa tossed the first complete game of his young career, allowing one run and stirking out a season-high eight in Hawaii’s 5-1 victory over Central Michigan on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium.
Arakawa allowed one walk and six hits before getting Sam Russell to fly out to right on his 111th pitch to end the game.
Stephen Ventimilia went 2-for-2 with three walks and a stolen base and Zack Swasey was 3-for-4 with two runs scored for Hawaii (10-5).
The Chippewas dropped to 5-8 overall.
The series ends on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
