Loss of generators causes widespread power outage
The loss of three generators caused a widespread power outage on Oahu Wednesday night.
Several areas on Oahu including Waipahu, Pauoa, Kakaako and Waialua lost power at about 9:25 p.m., said Hawaiian Electric Company spokesman Darren Pai.
Power was restored for most customers within an hour as reserve units went online, Pai said.
The lights went out at Les Murakami Stadium for a few minutes during a University of Hawaii baseball game.
"We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and appreciate their patience," Pai said.
