Hawaii’s Ricketts gets draft call
Stephanie Ricketts, a senior on the University of Hawaii softball team, was the 10th overall pick in the National Pro Fastpitch draft on Wednesday.
The two-time Western Athletic Conference pitcher of the year was the third-round pick of the Chicago Bandits and is the first UH player to be drafted by the league since Kate Robinson was selected in 2008. Ricketts already owns UH’s career records for wins (83) and strikeouts (667).
College players are not eligible to sign with a team until the end of their seasons.
