Lifeguards respond to near drowning on Hawaii island
Hawaii County lifeguards rescued a man who may have suffered a spinal injury while body surfing at Laaloa Beach Park Sunday afternoon.
Lifeguards pulled the man from the water around 12:45 p.m. and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until paramedics arrived.
The man was taken to Kona Community Hospital in unknown condition.
